Our work focuses on retro technology and digital culture, spanning publishing, software development, collectible items, and media projects.<\/p>\r\n<p>The name Nj\u00f6ll comes from an Old Norse name associated with Nj\u00e1l\u2019s Saga. In the same year, his first book, <em>How to Build a Computer Yourself<\/em>, was published; its entire print run of 6,000 copies sold out within a year. Vladimir completes a master\u2019s degree at the Higher School of Economics and defends his PhD dissertation.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1768658628846{padding-right: 0px !important;padding-left: 0px !important;}&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;][\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1768660400869{padding-left: 25px !important;}&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]\r\n<p><span class=\"viz-title\">2002-2008<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p>The PILOWAR project was launched, focused on the development of multimedia discs: collections of useful software, audiobooks, casual games, and more. Within a few years, over 500 titles are released with a total circulation of 3 million copies. PILOWAR also produced software compilations and user guide books commissioned by electronics manufacturers, including HP\u2019s iPaq PDAs.<\/p>\r\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1768658628846{padding-right: 0px !important;padding-left: 0px !important;}&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;][\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1768660400869{padding-left: 25px !important;}&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<span class=\"viz-title\">2005<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p>Sky Horse was founded, specializing in mobile software development and casual games for PC and Mac OS. Its main areas included multilingual travel guides, photo albums, and the history of technology.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1768658628846{padding-right: 0px !important;padding-left: 0px !important;}&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;][\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1768660400869{padding-left: 25px !important;}&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<span class=\"viz-title\">2011<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p>Under the Sky Horse Apps brand, a division for developing iOS and Android applications was launched. In total, several dozen mobile applications were released. One of them, Home Library, remained in the top 100 of many national app stores for about two years, reaching around 2 million downloads. The project later evolved into the non-commercial library Arheve.org.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1768658628846{padding-right: 0px !important;padding-left: 0px !important;}&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;][\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1768660400869{padding-left: 25px !important;}&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<span class=\"viz-title\">2015<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p>Sky Horse began collecting artifacts related to the history of electronics from the 1960s\u20131990s, conducted interviews with dozens of developers from that era, and initiated ongoing studio photo sessions in museums and private collections. This work resulted in an extensive archive dedicated to the history of consumer electronics. Several books were published based on this archive.
